Munich and its proximity to the Bavarian Alps is one of my favorite things ever! And in the colder months, it is a perfect base for families seeking winter adventures. For those who love skiing, I did some research and put together this list of family-friendly ski slopes near Munich:
1. Spitzingsee-Tegernsee

Why It’s Great for Families:
This compact ski area offers gentle slopes ideal for beginners and children. The entire Spitzingsee-Tegernsee ski area is very family-friendly. It is dominated by wide, red pistes that are easy for children to master
Facilities: Ski schools, equipment rentals, and family-friendly restaurants with stunning lake views.

2. Sudelfeld

Why It’s Great for Families:
Sudelfeld is one of the largest interconnected ski areas in Germany and caters to families with varied skill levels. Sudelfeld offers a kinderland; fenced children’s area and winter adventure park; that offers snow tubing tracks and a practice slopes. The children’s area is open to everyone for an entrance fee; no lift ticket is required.
Facilities: Ski schools, snowboarding lessons, rentals, and cozy huts for breaks.

3. Christlum Ski Area

Why It’s Great for Families:
Here you’ll find a large family ski area with a fun dinosaur park with platter lift for the children, snow land, toboggan run and even a ski school,
Facilities: Children’s dinosaur park area for skiing, snowboarding and ski school.

4. Winklmoosalm Ski Area

Why It’s Great for Families:
The Winklmoosalm offers fun on the slopes for all ages. From the wide beginners’ slope to the black north slope – every ski lover gets their money’s worth here.
Facilities: ski slopes, sledding, snowshoe hiking, ski school and very cosy restaurants.

5. SkiWelt
Distance from Munich: ~1.5 hour by car – check location here
Why It’s Great for Families:
In the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental, the 81 mountain railways are specially equipped with child-safe chairlifts. But there are also numerous practice areas in the valley without a chairlift or gondola, making it easy to get started with winter sports. They also offer Childcare at the valley or mountain stations (for children from 5 months)

6. Kolbensattel

Why It’s Great for Families:
They offer family-friendly ski area with 7 lifts that take you quickly and comfortably to the slopes. Located right next to the valley station, the Rote Schirmbar is the ideal place to take a well-deserved break or to relax after an exciting day of skiing
Facilities: family friendly ski slopes, ski school, rental equipments, cosy restaurant, toboggan run and an alpine coaster.
