Butterfly Exhibition in Munich | Botanical Gardens

If you’re looking for a fun and unique family outing in Munich this winter, don’t miss the Butterfly Exhibition at the Botanical Garden! We recently visited, and let me tell you – it was absolutely beautiful! But hurry, because this special exhibit is only running until March 3rd!

Remember to read our Tips for Planning your Visit below.

Butterflies Everywhere!

The moment we stepped inside the greenhouse, we were surrounded by hundreds of colorful butterflies fluttering all around us. Keep in mind that every childs reaction would be different but we had been hyping up our daughter beforehand and she was so excited! All she wanted during our whole time there was for a butterfly to come and sit on her hand 😅

It was so enchanting to see all the different kinds of butterflies and how they behaved. I had been wanting to go here for so long and it was totally worth the wait!

More Than Just Butterflies

While the butterflies are the main attraction, there’s so much more to explore! We also stopped by the turtle and fish sanctuary, which was also a big hit!. Watching the turtles slowly make their way around their enclosure and seeing the fish swim gracefully was such a calming experience – a perfect little nature escape right in the city!

After that we just roamed around the other plant exhibitions (which are included within your ticket for the butterfly exhibit) – I personally also really liked the cactuses and the flowers section! So definitely check those out too.

A Cozy Café Break

After all the exploring, we took a break at the Botanical Garden Café, and we highly recommend it! The staff were incredibly friendly, had lots of high chairs and the food was delicious. We tried the Flammkuchen and I was not expecting it to be that good! – it was so good! Crispy, flavorful, and just what we needed after our little adventure.
