If you’re looking for a family-friendly adventure close to Munich, the Blomberg Blitz Alpine Coaster in Bad Tölz is a must-try. We spent a day there recently with our toddler and it turned out to be one of those outings where all of us had an absolute blast!
The Blomberg Blitz is an alpine coaster that winds its way down the slopes of Blomberg. It’s fast, smooth, and offers beautiful views. I’ll be honest: I wasn’t sure how our toddler would feel about it, but after our first run, she immediately shouted “Again, again!”. So my biggest tip here would be to get the 3-ride ticket because trust me, one won’t be enough!

Why we chose the Blitz over the Sommerrodelbahn
Blomberg also has a Sommerrodelbahn, but we went with the Blitz for a couple of reasons:
- You go up in the alpine coaster instead of having to go on the cable car — this way we saved time and could take the coaster again and again.
- It’s a little faster and feels more thrilling, which makes it fun for adults too.
And a fun little extra: the Blitz takes a picture of you mid-ride, which we loved having as a keepsake.
Prices (for Adults) & Practical Info
- Single ride: €9.00
- 3 rides: €22.50 (worth it, trust me – one ride isn’t enough)
- The Blomberg Blitz runs all year round, in every season and every kind of weather.
- Kids aged 8 and above can ride alone while younger kids and toddlers (3+) can ride with an adult.
- On Saturday evenings, they even offer night rides.

Beyond the ride
The nice thing about Blomberg is that it’s more than just a ride. Right next to the Blitz is a playground where kids can try their hands at cars, cranes, a gigantic trampoline and slides. There’s also a restaurant where we stopped for a snack – the winner of the day was definitely the slushy, perfect on a warm afternoon.
Extending the day in Bad Tölz
Since Blomberg is only a few minutes outside of Bad Tölz, we decided to make it a full day trip. After the coaster and playground, we headed into the town, strolled through the charming old town streets, and spent some time by the water. Our toddler loved splashing around, and for us, it was the perfect way to wind down after the excitement of the Blitz.
Getting there from Munich
- 🚗 By car: just under an hour’s drive from Munich.
- 🚆 By train + bus: take the train to Bad Tölz, then hop on the local bus that takes you directly to Blomberg — remember to check the schedule. As far as I checked, the bus runs every hour.
The Blomberg Blitz is such a great family day trip from Munich – fun, easy to reach, and something kids (and grown-ups!) will remember. Whether you go for a few rides and a playground stop, or make a full day of it with a visit to Bad Tölz, it’s the kind of outing that works for everyone. We’ll definitely be back – next time maybe for a Saturday night ride! Check out more day trip ideas near Munich here
