Wasserspielplatz Westpark: A Playground You Can Visit Year-Round
I know the Wasserspielplatz in Westpark is popular for, well… being a water playground (it’s right there in the name 😅). But don’t let that fool you, this playground is a total hit all year round, not just in summer!
We made a little pit stop here last weekend while biking around the area, and loved it. Here’s why you will too.
Everything you need to know about the Wasserspielplatz Westpark
🌿 Location, location, location
Set right in the heart of beautiful Westpark, one of Munich’s greenest and most loved parks, this playground is surrounded by lush trees, open meadows, and scenic walking paths. You can easily combine your visit with a stroll, picnic, or a little bike adventure around the park.
🛝 A playground for every age
Don’t worry if your little one isn’t ready for the giant slide (which is seriously impressive by the way!). There’s still plenty to do:
- A smaller slide and climbing structures for toddlers
- An interactive bridge with colorful panels that catch the sunlight beautifully
- Hoops to swing from
- Swings and balance beams
- Open space for scooting, biking, and climbing
☕ Parent-friendly setup
We love an activity that’s fun for the whole family and this playground definitely delivers. There are plenty of benches around for sitting and watching, and right next to the play area is a small kiosk where you can grab:
- Coffee
- Cold drinks
- Ice cream and snacks
And yes, toilets are available on-site too.
🎶 Bonus tip: Make a day out of it
Whenever we’re in the area, we love stopping by @gans_am_wasser, just a short walk from the playground. It’s a cozy lakeside café with chill weekend vibes. They often have live music, kids’ events, and of course, tasty cakes.
Highlight
If you visit on a sunny day, don’t miss the colorful light reflections on the bridge near the play area. For more playgrounds in Munich, see our Playgrounds section here
