Munich has plenty going on for kids at Halloween: trick or treating around the neighbourhood, spooky parties, pumpkin carving and a ghost train or two. This year Halloween is on a Saturday (31 October), which makes it a good one for families.

Craft something spooky together at the local library.
A Halloween-themed visit to the film studios, with pumpkins, hay bales and giant spider webs along the paths. Costumes are welcome, and so are dogs on a lead.
A free Halloween craft workshop, and a Halloween party at the same kids' café a week later.
A spooky graveyard room with video and sound effects inside the illusion museum. On 31 October and 1 November children also get free glitter tattoos with Halloween motifs and can go trick or treating for small surprises and sweets. Costumes are welcome.

A walk-in ghost train of mysterious corridors, scary scenes and live scarers. Children aged 8 to 11 can only go in with a parent, and under 8s are not allowed in.

A Halloween street food festival with a kids' area: a carousel, a little locomotive and face painting.

A Halloween fairy-tale reading on the stage at the café. It gets a bit spooky, so it suits children from about 5 or 6. Kids are invited to come in a cape or as a witch or ghost.
A Halloween afternoon at the adventure playground in the Ostpark. No sign-up needed.
The big one: a children's disco, face painting, mask crafting, a fire show, a parade, games and a graveyard set, plus a horror labyrinth for ages 6 and up. The scary parts are limited for under 6s.
