Deutsches Museum with Kids in Munich

Deutsches Museum

I love using a cold or rainy day to explore one of Munich’s wonderful museums. The Deutsches Museum has quickly become a family favorite! We recently took our toddler along, and she loved roaming around just as much as we did!

Deutsches Museum Munich

Whether you’re looking for a rainy day activity or want to introduce your little one to the wonders of science, this museum is a must-visit. The Deutsches Museum is huge—you can easily spend half a day here exploring new things at every turn.

Parts of the museum that our toddler specifically loved:

🚂 Trains & Planes – Climbing into old locomotives and seeing giant airplanes up close? A total hit. We easily spent a big chunk of our time here
🌍 Astronomy Section – Our little one was fascinated by the planets here!
Electricity & Lightning Demonstrations – Okay, this one was so cool for us but she also loved the interactivity of this section and who doesn’t love cool lights and sparks

Kids Area in Deutsches Museum

It features a dedicated kids’ area called the Kinderreich. This space is designed for children aged 3 to 8, but even younger kids will find plenty to enjoy. Think hands-on exhibits, buttons to press, and even water play.

Our little one was completely obsessed with:

👷‍♂️ Construction Area: A dream come true for tiny builders with big, colorful blocks.💦 Water Play Station: Splashing around and exploring water currents—an instant favorite.
🎶 Music Section: Where making noise with giant instruments is not only allowed, but encouraged!

Plus, there are toilets and comfortable spots to sit and enjoy a snack.
