Hey there, Munich parents! It’s that time of year again when our beautiful city transforms into a colorful carnival wonderland. Yep, you guessed it – Fasching carnival is just around the corner! Let’s dive into what’s happening for families during this fun-filled season in 2025.
First things first, what exactly is the Fasching carnival? Well, it’s an awesome spring carnival that’s been around since medieval times. Think of it as one big dress-up party before Lent kicks in. In 2025, the main Fasching festivities will be from February 27th to March 4th, but there’s plenty of family-friendly fun leading up to it too! Now, let’s talk events. Fasching Family Party at the Deutsches Theater
- For: Families with kids aged up to 10
- Date: February 23rd, 2025
- Time: 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM
- Location: Deutsches Theater
- Activities: Expect fun games, exciting performances, lots of music and dancing!
- Admission: €15 per ticket

Carnival Breakfast at Hard Rock Cafe Munich
- For: Families with kids of all ages
- Date: March 2nd and 4th
- Time: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
- Location: Hard Rock Cafe Munich
- Activities: American breakfast buffet with pancakes, fried eggs and many other delicacies! As well as an entertainment program with dancing, games and fun!
- Prices: Adults €24.95, Children (4-12 years) €17.95, Toddlers (under 4) 1€

Carnival for Kids at Gasteig
- For: Families with kids aged up to 10
- Date: March 2nd
- Time: 2:00 PM
- Location: Hall X | Gasteig HP8
- Activities: Experience a magical day full of music, dance, games, fun and a costume competition!
- Prices: €15.00; babies up to 18 months free
- Admission: Get tickets here
Fasching Carnival Party at Quax
- For: For everyone
- Date: March 1st
- Time: 3:00 – 6:00 PM
- Location: Quax – Café and Hall, Helsinkistraße 100, 81829
- Activities: For a colorful and fun fasching, with funky costumes, games, dancing, crafts and food – visit the Quax family carnival party!
- Prices: no registration required, free entry, but drinks and food cost a small fee.
- Admission: Free entry – limited space (with around 220 young and old visitors) and if the weather is nice, the adventure playground will also be open. More information here
Parades and Street Festivities
- München Narrisch: An open-air party in the city center from February 27 to March 4, 2025
- Parade of the Damischen Ritter: A colorful procession through Munich’s old town
- Date: Sunday, February 23, 2025
- Starting time: 11:00 AM
- München narrisch: (=crazy Munich) is the name of the three-day street carnival from Sunday to Shrove Tuesday (March 2nd to 4th) in the pedestrian zone of the old town. The old town is decorated from Stachus to Viktualienmarkt and everyday from 10:30 am there will be parade of fun costumes and lively music.
- Dance of the Market Women at the Viktualienmarkt: The dance of the market women happens on Shrove Tuesday on March 4, 2025 with their colorful costumes and merry music.
Now, I know what you’re thinking – “What about food?” Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! Remember the Chinesischer Turm in the English Garden? It’s perfect for Fasching fun with its playground and carousel. And for a sweet treat afterwards, head to I Love Leo for some amazing frozen yogurt.
